G’day! In this mandolin lesson we’ll take a look at Billy in the Low Ground, a popular fiddle tune played in the key of C. There are 2 variations in this arrangement, a basic, intermediate version and a more advanced variation. The lesson also includes technical work which covers some of the fundamental technique required for the tune & your general playing!
Lesson #1 – In the first lesson we’ll take a look at:
- The basic melody for parts A & B;
- The C Major scale over 2 octaves;
- Double stop positions used in the basic part B arrangement;
- Eighth note double picking exercise with the C Major scale.
Lesson #2 – In the second lesson we’ll take a look at:
- The advanced variation for parts A & B;
- Discuss the ornaments used in the arrangement (hammer-ons & slides);
- The C Major Blues Scale & the b3;
- Double stop positions used in the advanced part B arrangement;
- 2 octave arpeggios for the chords within the tune (C, Am, G & F).
