Lesson 13: Introduction To Articulation (w/Cripple Creek) Flatpicking Crash Course

G’day! In lesson 13 of the 102 Flatpicker’s Crash Course, we’ll dive into using articulations (hammer-ons & slides). These techniques are an important feature of any guitar style & can smooth out our sound (legato). We’ll be working on a variation of Cripple Creek during the lesson.

The first 12 lessons can be found here 101 Flatpicking Crash Course and here 102 Flatpicking Crash Course.

In the last lesson we learnt about when to use alternating picking. We will continue this technique as part of lesson 13 & also cover the following:

  • Articulations (hammer-ons & slides);
  • Transposing with the capo;
  • Left-hand finger position;
  • The difference between 4/4 (common time) & 2/2 (cut common time).
If you would like to continue with this lesson, the full lesson is available to members, which:

  • Includes 3 video lessons;
  • Includes the PDF tab & notation for the Cripple Creek variation;
  • Also includes MP3 backing track & play-along at tempo.
