In part 3 of this introduction to the melodic banjo techniques, we’ll continue to work out of open G tuning, but look at the key of D major. We’ll cover scale positions and exercises for the key, while applying these to another great tune, that is sure to enhance your technique. In the lesson we’ll cover:

  • 2 variations of the D Major scale;
  • Discuss the similarities between the notes found in the key of G & D;
  • Work through several exercises & positions;
  • And finally, put it all together with a great tune ‘The Scholar’.

If you’re new to the melodic style, or dabbled a little, this introduction will further your ability and enjoyment of this great way of picking the banjo. If you haven’t already, make sure you start here > Introduction To Melodic Banjo (Part 1).
