In this fifth volume of Bluegrass licks on the guitar, we’ll look at a bunch of lick ideas in the key of C. In the lesson we’ll cover licks for the 1 4 & 5 chords (C F G), analyse the ideas and learn the scales & arpeggio shapes that have help build the licks. There is an example break that we’ll pull all the lick ideas out of, and we’ll analyse the ideas against both the chord progression and the scales/arpeggios, working through the thought process.
We’ll thoroughly break down all the licks and ideas in the lessons, but having a knowledge of the licks from the previous lessons will also help. While this lesson is aimed at the advanced picker, players of all levels will be able to gain valuable insight into the process of improvising around chords in a Bluegrass style.
