In this course, we’ll cover a way of looking at the fretboard that is beneficial in building your knowledge of melody & harmony. By learning the neck with triads, you’ll look at the fretboard in a completely new way, giving you an awful lot of choice & freedom in your playing. This knowledge can be used in many different ways, such as, lead/improvisation, harmony, rhythm, creating additional guitar parts, etc. It really is a game changer!
In this first part of the course, we’ll cover the major triads found on strings 1, 2 & 3, with a focus on the key of D and the 1 4 5 chords – D G A. We’ll break down what the triads are, how they are built, where the root note is positioned, all possible variations, plus, we’ll learn & analyse an example solo that uses these triads in a melodic way.
