About

banjo bwHowdy! My name is Heath Joyce and I welcome you to my site, Pickin’ Lessons! With an ever growing range of online lessons for the banjo, guitar & mandolin, here I hope to share the knowledge and experience I have gained over many years of performing and teaching.

A little about me…

I’m a musician and music teacher located on the Bellarine Peninsula, Victoria, Australia, living a relaxed life with my family in a very beautiful part of the world.

Some of my non-musical interests include getting outdoors, walking, cycling, kayaking, surfing, spending time with my family and can’t leave out Evie, our golden retriever!

I began playing guitar at the age of 9, studying many styles of music over the years and throughout my schooling. I’ve played in many bands, in a variety of genres since the mid 90’s, but my passion for bluegrass and traditional music has become a focus (and obsession!).

Teaching music since 1999, within schools and private music studios, Pickin’ Lessons first begun circa 2013/14 and has grown to include 100’s of online lessons for mandolin, guitar & banjo. Bringing a wealth of theory, technical knowledge & experience to the online lessons, I very much look forward to the future of the site & welcome you onboard!
